MV Team Helps in Community

Our Midget Varsity team had a wonderful opportunity to participate with Freedom House and its residents. Freedom House is a 12 year transitional program offering shelter and support for homeless adults. Our awesome Midget Varsity team volunteered on November 24th and served 38 homeless adults dinner.

Afterward they had another opportunity to listen to testimonies from some individuals who shared the importance of staying in school and doing well in sports. Our team was very touched by the words shared in regard to the personal challenges of life and how strongly these residents felt that taking pride in academics and excelling in all areas is the only way to become a productive part of society.

Thanks to all of our Midget Varsity team and coaches for going that extra mile for our kids! Thank you also to Freedom House for all their amazing work in helping their residents maintain a proper lifestyle and guiding them to go beyond what’s expected.     GO RAVENS!

Congratulations to the Midget Varsity Team with a 29 to 0 win over Parham.  They will be playing Goochland at VA Randolph next Saturday (regular time).
 
Congratulations to the Flag Varsity Team who won their bowl game against the Sandston Jets 19 to 6!  Nice job guys!!

The Ravens Midget Varsity team is the 2008 Western Division Champions with an 8-0 undefeated record for the regular season!!

Congratulations to the team, Head Coach Carl BRUMFIELD and his assistant coaches, and Cheer Coach Mandy Freeman and the entire Cheer squad!

Ravens - it’s a voting year! We will be re-electing members and also looking to fill new open positions. The only way our amazing organization can survive is by getting new and fresh volunteers to help make things strong for our next year and our children’s next year. PLEASE STEP UP and help us! Fosters Grille
Remember that we have a fundraiser night of good food and hospitality at Fosters Grille this coming Friday - October 10th. OUR CONCESSION STAND IS CLOSED AND YOU WILL BE HUNGRY! Let the Ravens children benefit by having a portion of what you spend that night go back to our organization. WE NEED YOU! It’s a Friday night and games do not start tremendously early the next day for most - Sorry JV Flaggers! (I am right there with you at 7a.m., though). It’s a perfect night to make a push and eat at Fosters Grille with the kids after practice. Please make this a priority and help!

In that same spirit please consider supporting our Raven youth by participating in our Raven Aid. Every year there are families that have difficulties funding their children’s expenses in football and cheerleading. Our Raven Aid accepts donations to fund scholarships to play football and participate in cheerleading! Raven Aid pays membership fees and all equipment related expenses. We are an approved 501(c)3 organization and all donations to GAFCA are tax deductible. O.K.  Ravens – get ready to capture your child’s football and cheerleading experience with Lifetouch on picture day!

Picture day will be Sunday, September 28^th starting at 1:00p.m. Our rain date will be Sunday, October 5^th and the make-up date is Tuesday, October 7^th. Makeups will begin right before practice at the RF&P field. Gary from Lifetouch will be giving forms in advance to distribute to team parents. Make a note mom’s and dad’s…meet us all on time with your picture perfect children and capture their moments!

Let’s teach our children this simple fact. Attempt to do what you think you can’t and prove to yourself and others that YOU CAN.

Join the Ravens at the Hollows Golf Club in Montpellier, Virginia on Friday October 17^th to help raise awareness and funds for our youth of the future. Shotgun start time to be determined. We’ll have a raffle and mulligan’s sold at check in. We have an AWESOME catered lunch with beverages and prizes. Cost is 65$ per player and a captains choice format. 100$ hole sponsorship!

This is sure to be a wonderful event – as usual. Please show your Raven support and join us this day to show our children that, indeed, they can accomplish anything they set their minds to. With support – anything is possible. Cool thing is you’ll have fun doing it!
